Intermountain Heber Valley Specialty Clinic Unveils Major Expansion for Enhanced Patient Care

Expanding Healthcare Access in Heber Valley

To support the growth of Utah’s Wasatch Back, the Intermountain Heber Valley Specialty Clinic has been remodeled and expanded. This enhancement aims to provide better access to specialized medical care for residents, including new ear, nose, and throat care, sleep medicine, and neurosurgery services.

The expansion allows multiple caregivers to see more patients throughout the week, improving convenience for the community.

Tripling the Clinic’s Capacity

“We’ve tripled the size of our specialty clinic,” said Si Hutt, president of Intermountain Heber Valley Hospital, during the ribbon-cutting event on June 21. “This expansion is part of a larger strategy to improve access to specialists and services on the Wasatch Back, making care more convenient for our residents.”

New and Expanded Services

Dr. Richard Vanlangendonck, a new urologist, will join Carol Leatherman, PA-C, at the clinic later this summer.

The clinic is also actively recruiting a full-time dermatologist to join Drs. Kevin Gardner and Timothy Michaelis. Dr. Nathan Joos, an ear, nose, and throat surgeon, will now see patients at the Heber Clinic and his Park City practice.

He specializes in a new implant surgery for sleep apnea. John Zachary, PA-C, will handle follow-up appointments for sleep medicine, complementing home and hospital-based sleep studies.

General surgeon Dr. Josh Morgan, who has practiced at the clinic for three years, will now have increased appointment availability. Additionally, gastroenterology services will expand with Charlotte Powers, NP, and Erin Kimball, PA-C, working closely with gastrointestinal doctors Holly Clark and Don Brust.

Enhanced Pain Management and Cardiology Services

Pain management services will also see an increase in availability with Dr. Josh Minori, Troy Johnson PA-C, and Matt Tieman PA-C moving to the South Medical Office Building, home of the Intermountain Specialty Clinic.

Intermountain Heart will relocate to the new specialty clinic space and expand its capabilities, including stress echocardiograms. An additional cardiologist is set to join Drs. Amanda Donohue and Armond LaPine later this year.

Community Impact and Future Plans

The expansion aims to make specialized medical care more accessible and convenient for Heber Valley residents. Long-time Timber Lakes residents Arlene and Ennis Hutchinson expressed their relief at having medical care closer to home, reducing the need for long drives to Park City.

Midway Mayor Celeste Johnson and Midway Council member Lisa Orme highlighted the benefit for the many retired residents in the area who previously had to travel to Salt Lake or Provo for medical support. The expansion means these residents can now receive necessary care within their community.

Conclusion: Commitment to Continued Growth

The Intermountain Heber Valley Specialty Clinic’s expansion is a significant step towards meeting the healthcare needs of the growing Wasatch Back population. By providing more specialized services locally, Intermountain Health ensures that residents receive timely and convenient care.

The organization remains committed to further expanding Heber Valley Hospital and recruiting more physicians to continue supporting the community’s health and well-being.
